November 2011
Don’t really see the point of it. I kinda just see it as an event where girls who normally never wear make-up can wear some without being judged, and for the girls who always wear it anyway, for them to cake even more on because of the event itself. Guys just get dressed up and check out which girls have the best bodies or looks the best, and the girls go around saying who’s dresses looks good and how this doesn’t suit this person and so forth. It’s also another reason to get pissed drunk afterwards and to not go school on the day. I seriously don’t share the excitement that the majority of the people in my year are sharing for it… There are girls who spend the whole day getting ready and there’s people who spend like $500 buying everything. Makes me wonder why people would do that since it’s not like you’d wear the dress again to next year’s formal, simply because no one does that. Everyone’s doing their best to look good, and I’m just sitting here thinking ‘Who gives a fuck?’
Why can’t we just wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt to school? We’re just meant to wear uniform so that people can recognise us from the uniform we wear, right? So what’s wrong with wearing sweatpants and more comfortable clothing to school since it’s not like any other school will wear it, and therefore we can be more easily identified. Plus it’s so much more comfortable… I don’t get it?
